Esquires are undeniably cool! First introduced in 1950, it had several reiterations and became highly coveted brother of the much more popular Telecaster. Last year the model celebrated it's 70th birthday.

Guitar for sale has all the vintage vibe of an old-school "Blackguard" Esquire and a very comfortable U-shape neck, that doesn't feel huge unlike so many other 52 Teles. Beautiful honey amber nitrocellulose lacquer has deep 3D effect to it and has already started to exhibit cool crackling and patina on the fretboard and headstock. Applied "over-the-lacquer" in the true vintage fashion headstock decal has a couple of crooked letters, neck heel has some lacquer peeling, otherwise stunning condition. Frets got a pro fret stoning, so these have no wear and shine nicely. Unbleached bone nut adds vintage vibe and resonance, Kluson tuners are stable and reliable.

Very resonant premium swamp ash body has classic Butterscotch Blonde nitrocellulose finish, that looks absolutely beautiful. This originally came from a American Vintage 52 Telecaster Hot Rod model with an enlarged neck humbucker pickup cavity, previous owner also had a middle pickup installed at some point. All extra routing is now neatly covered with the pickguard, perfect for smugglers of any kind :) Body has small dents and dings here and there - vintage nitro lacquer is quite fragile - but nothing too dramatic.

Classic Fender "Pat Pend" 3-saddle bridge provides with great sustain thanks to the strings-through-body construction, classic 1950s style brass saddles give nice warm tone and thanks to their compensated design the intonation is pretty spot on as well.

The voice of this Esquire is ruthless and bold, thanks to one stunning ToneRider TRT-2 Hot Classics Alnico III pickup. Fantastic responsiveness to the pick attack, very punchy tonal palette with plenty of tasty overtones, this can drive any tube amp into heaven. The range on the volume knob is very useful as well, helping to clear the sound without losing any character.

This Esquire has the so-called Modded Eldred Wiring, that provides 3 sounds via the classic 3-way blade switch. Position 1 (closest to the neck) send the signal through a special Mullard Mustard capacitor from the early 1960s, that gives the pickup a very "cocked wah" kind of sound, with plenty of grit and rumble. Volume pot is still active, but the Tone pot is out of the circuit in this position.

Position 2 (middle) gives the classic Tele bridge sound with both Volume and Tone pot active, treble roll off here is provided by a smooth Orange Drop capacitor.

Position 3 (closest to the bridge) is the most powerful of all, with the pickup bypassing both pots and going straight into the output for raw unadulterated pickup sound.

The main idea with this custom wiring is to use position 1 for more characterful tones, pre-set the volume and tone in position 2 and use position 3 like a natural clean boost for lead playing.

This guitar comes with a Fender American Standard ABS moulded hardcase in great condition and with TSA-approved locks. Among the accessories you will find a black strap, vintage style O-ring rubber strap locks, infamous ashtray bridge cover and Fender owner's manual.

Please note that although we put our heart and soul and also all our knowledge into every single guitar we sell, a setup is a personal preference and we cannot give any guarantees. However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing.

We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure. We focus on finding great quality guitars and making them reliable and inspiring to play.
