Offsets like Jazzmaster and Jaguar were supposed to be pretty innovative back in the 1960s, following the sleek curves of the Space Age design. Unfortunately they were dramatically overshadowed by a couple of their brothers - Strat and Tele - and were mostly condemned to obscurity till around mid 1980s, when the indie and alt rock kids started showing interest. By 2020 both models are in very high demand and offsets are definitely in fashion.


However, many players who desire the looks of a Jaguar or Jazzmaster find their bridge pickups to be unusable due to the thin and nasal sound, bridge unstable and the tremolo arm falling out. Jaguar for sale is definitely meant for those seeking beefier tones with an offset aesthetic.


This model is a special edition, made for Japanese domestic market, and comes equipped with powerful yet still articulate Gibson PAF-style Dragster humbuckers, that really open up the rock machine potential of a Jaguar. Original tailpiece was a humble stop-tail, previous owner had a different tailpiece installed for a while (hence some extra holes), but now the Jag boasts a really lovely USA-made Bigsby B5 for some fancy looks and stable and expressive action. Tune-o-matic bridge with roller saddles solves all the problems of the original Jaguar bridge design, helping to achieve both reliable tuning and good intonation.


Except for some minor surface wear on the body and scratchplate and a wear patch on the lower bout near the output socket, this Jaguar comes in very nice condition with no fret wear and all original wiring and electronics. 3-tone sunburst looks particularly lovely with a mint green scratchplate to contrast; neck has a comfy C-shape, beautifully figured rosewood fretboard with a more user-friendly 9.5-inch radius, attractive vintage style gloss finish, stable and reliable vintage Kluson tuners and absolutely minimal wear. String tree has been upgraded to a roller type for less friction and better tuning stability.


Original wiring consists of two circuits - just like the original Jaguar. Upper panel is equipped with two roller pots and a slider switch: these are called the "rhythm circuit" and are meant for presetting the neck pickup volume and tone, giving it a slightly darker tone.


The lower control panel - "the lead circuit" - is there for both pickups and has higher value A1Meg pots for full on bright response. Three slider switches on the small control panel are on-off for each pickup with the third switch being a "low cut" filter, taking the rumble out of the equation. Effect is subtle, but might prove quite useful if you are trying to record some punchy driven tones.


Bigsby is a USA-made B5 model and not the cheaper Far East "licensed" version. This means highest possible build quality and very stable operation. Thanks to the roller saddles of the bridge and roller string tree tuning stability is sublime.


This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 11-49 Nickel-plated steel strings.
