Jazzmasters are undeniably cool - and they are finally getting the recognition they deserve, albeit not from jazz players, like originally intentended. Resurgence in interest towards these guitars made them instantly scarce and hard to come by. It seems that everyone wants one and then never puts them back on sale.
Fender Japan Jazzmasters are well-known for their outstanding build quality and vintage-accurate specs. Guitar for sale was build in Japan around 2002 and have seen plenty of gig action over the last 18 years. At some point the guitar has been refinished in Surf Green nitro, that will gracefully age and rub off, revealing blue patches underneath (surf green without the yellow lacquer). Cool, right?
Guitar has plenty of surface wear on the body, with multiple bumps and scratches and a long crack going along the back and front and some dings on the back of the neck - but all purely cosmetic and doesn't detract from the structural integrity or playability. The bridge pickup cavity depth has been enlarged at some point.
Original Jazzmaster bridge, known for its infamous rattles and string slippage, was replaced with a much more stable Mustang bridge. Apart from that everything else is original.
Slim C-shape maple neck is a true pleasure to play and has a very attractive Indian rosewood fretboard. Matching headstock makes this stand out from the crowd. Original Kluson vinage-style slotted tuners work smoothly and provide stable tuning, even with plenty of tremolo action. Bone nut is low enough to provide accurate intonation across the fretboard and frets are even.
Wiring is all original and works well, 1Meg pots in the lead circuit give full on bright and punchy tones and react well to rolling them down just a bit to get less top end. Rhythm circuit with the roller pots gives a darker sound to the neck pickup, allowing you to preset the volume and tone and then switch between two circuits. Upper slider switch is a bit stiff, but still works well. Original pickup covers and knob have aged into a creamier tone of white.
The best part of a Jazzmaster is obviously the tremolo. Fender Japan ones are reliable and stable, they also have the trem lock button that helps eliminate tuning problems on stage if you break a string. Bridge rocks back and forth together with the tremolo movement, allowing for stable tuning and expressive playing. Tremolo tension can be easily adjusted according to player's needs with one top screw. Original tremolo arm has been lost, but we will include a Stratocaster tremolo arm with this guitar.
To make this more interesting we can also offer a vintage-style tortoishell pickguard instead of the white one - just let us know which one would you prefer.
Guitar will come in a decent quality Warwick Rockbag with padding and accessories pocket. We will also include a brand new RotoSound Blue and Black strap and can also install strap locks on the guitar instead of the normal strap pins.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, lemon oil fretboard treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with Fender 11-49 Nickel-plated steel strings.
This guitar will be shipped around UK and EU with Parcelforce courier, safely packed into a sturdy guitar cardboard box. 24h courier service provided to UK customers. Worldwide shipping available as well!

Please note that although we put our heart and soul and also all our knowledge into every single guitar we sell, a setup is a personal preference and we cannot give any guarantees. However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing.
We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure. We focus on finding great quality guitars and making them reliable and inspiring to play.
