Looking for a vintage-looking Strat, but don't like vintage specs? This one is for you!
Nitro relic oversprays are fun - especially when you find rare colour combinations. Like this Strat, that came out of the Corona California factory back in 2004 proudly wearing a Shoreline Silver metallic finish. "How would a Shell Pink nitro look over this?" - we thought one day. And here's the result!
The beautiful alder body is very resonant yet not heavy, retaining all the original internal cavities, but now looking like it's been touring the world relentlessly for the past 20 years. Off-white 3-ply pickguard works really well against the pink body and the aged pickup covers and knobs complete the vintage transformation.
The neck comes from a 2003 Fender USA Highway One model (mk1) and has the most glorious maple figuring on the front and back. Rounded fretboard edges and satin back finish make it such a pleasure to play. The truss-rod works smoothly, allowing for a great setup. The original tuners help keep the guitar in tune even with some active vibrato use.
The sonic palette is provided by a set of our handmade scatterwound 1960s style single-coils, that have staggered AlNiCo V magnets, heavy formvar wire, fibre bobbins and cloth-covered output wires. The bridge pickup is slightly overwound to avoid the typical nasality of that position. These pickups are very reactive to your picking and can drive a tube amp into some sweet tones. Middle pickup has been reverse-wound and has reverse polarity, so the "in-between" positions are hum-cancelling - a nice addition when you want to use a lot of fuzz.
Original American Series bridge with two pivot construction is most definitely a better design compared to the vintage 6 screw bridge of the yesteryear. These allow for deeper diving and are great for expressive players. The saddles have been upgraded to a more vintage-looking Callaham steel ones.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings.
