GREAT opportunity to own a vintage Fender with tons of character and amazing specs! Only produced for a very short period of time during 1982-1983 these Stratocasters are rare as hens teeth, especially in this striking Aztec Gold finish.
In the early 1980s Fender was going through management change. Under the wise supervision of now legendary Dan Smith Fender reinvented themselves and by mid 1980s were back in at the top of their game with new guitars and new ideas.
Guitar for sale is in great condition for a 37-year-old, with wear mainly located on the body (bumps and dents, finish wear) and a bit of cosmetic wear on the fretboard. No structural modifications or damage, all original electronics and hardware. The only non-original parts are the tremolo arm (stays in nicely) and the new tweed hardcase.
Neck has a comfy slim c-shape and flatter 12-inch radius, that is much more common on Gibsons and rarely seen on Fenders. Frets are even and shiny, tuners work smoothly, truss-rod is operation and adjusted at the headstock. Neck also has MicroTilt system, that has only been introduced the year before this one was released. Gorgeous "Bird's Eye" maple wood figuring and smooth gloss lacquer make this a real eye candy. 11 Nov 1983 stamped on the heel of the neck.
Unique FreeFlyte tremolo system is quirky, but actually works quite well. Springs are located under the pickups inside the body, strings are loaded from the top of the tremolo. Non-original arm pops-in and stays in nicely, without flopping around or falling out. Fender only used this tremolo for a couple of years and then came up with the current American Standard 2-pivot system.
Original electronics all work well, Alnico V pickups provide a very lovely classic Stratocaster tonal palette with plenty of variation. Orange Drop tone capacitor gives a very smooth treble roll off for all 3 pickups.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings.
This guitar will be shipped around UK and EU with Parcelforce courier, safely packed into a sturdy guitar cardboard box. 24h courier service provided to UK customers. Worldwide shipping provided as well.
