Here’s a 1973 Fender Telecaster that’s lived a life, heard some stories, and decided to reinvent itself along the way. Originally born in black polyester during the glory days of bell bottoms and power cuts, this one’s since been reborn in a stunning Honey Amber refinish that lets the lightweight ash body show off its grain like it always wanted to.
The maple neck has a comfy C-profile that’s slim and quick: 20.4 mm at the first fret, 21.7 mm at the 12th, and finished in that classic 1970s gloss you can almost see your amp in. The maple fretboard still retains it's original vintage 7.25-inch radius, but the skinny frets have been replaced with medium jumbo at some point and fret-dressed recently to achieve a great setup. A few dings here and there, but no structural damage or nasty mods.
Hardware is all original 1970s glory, with the Fender trapezoid tuners still working well and the “Patent Number” ashtray bridge with steel saddles providing solid sustain and decent intonation.
Electronics are a beautiful hybrid of vintage grit and boutique cleverness. The original neck pickup (measuring a sweet 6.3K) is still chugging along, full of that mid-’70s smoky spank. But the real plot twist is the bridge pickup: a Lundgren handwound single-coil from Sweden—yes, Sweden—sitting pretty at 6.4K and dishing out chime, bite, and a little snarl when pushed. Think vintage with a passport.
The wiring is an effective cocktail of eras: the original 1970s CRL USA 3-way switch still works surprisingly well and the original ceramic disc tone capacitor (yes, that little orange UFO) is still doing its thing, providing extra-lovely grit when the tone is rolled down. The volume and tone controls have been upgraded with CTS USA A250K solid brass shaft pots for better feel and taper control.
At some point in it's life this Tele had some sort of preamp under the pickguard, but the routing was done very neatly and is now plugged with a piece of lovely ash. The pickguard itself is now a sleek 1-ply black replacement—sharp, clean, no frills.
The best thing about this Tele is probably it's weight. Unlike so many of it's "boat anchor" contemporaries, the whole guitar tips the scales at very fair 3.2 kg, while still exhibiting a lot of natural ash resonance. Simply lovely!
And yes, it comes with an original 1970s ABS Fender hardcase—black plush interior, plenty of exterior wear, all hinges working, kind of like a retired tour manager who still gets invited backstage.
This isn’t a collector’s closet piece—it’s a lifer. If you want a Tele that’s survived disco, punk, and modern pedalboards—and still has more to say—this one’s your huckleberry.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body clean, neck deep clean and full electronics check. Restringed with Fender 10-46 nickel-plated steel strings.
This guitar will be shipped around UK with Parcelforce couriers, safely packed into a sturdy guitar cardboard box. 24h courier service provided to UK customers. Worldwide shipping provided as well, but at the moment we don't ship to EU or Northern Ireland.
