If you like your guitars to be new and shiny - then run away, because this Telecaster is as brutal as Telecasters get! In fact, it is not even a Telecaster, it is a Telecast! :)
In its 43 years of service this guitar has developed truly spectacular wrinkles and battlescars all over the body and it seems to carry a lot of stories of the olden days. If only guitars could talk... Oh wait, they can sing!
Body is made out of a chunky and resonant piece of ash and makes this Tele loud acoustically and provides truly beautiful natural sustain. Unlike so many 1970s guitars that have been chisled and routed for those essential humbuckers, this one still has all original factory cavities. Black was one of the more common colours for Teles back then, but judging from some red in the neck pocket and under the finish, this one was refinished in black a long long time ago. Paint is very worn , especially on the bottom bout, it also has a bluer hue where the arm was wearing it out on the front. Plenty of checking and patina all around - looks like that Rembrandt painting.
According to the previous owner the body was made in 1978, but all Teles from 1976 to 1979 have the same body design and cavities, so it can easily be from any of those years. Pickguard is not original (original was most probably black), but it has a very nice aged mint green colour and matches the body wear nicely.
Neck comes from a 1977 Tele and has a really lovely worn satin lacquer feel on the back, generously rolled fretboard edges and beautifully textured rosewood fretboard. A pro refret was done at some point so the frets are in very good shape, allowing for very nice setup and playability. Original tuners still hold and the nut is nicely cut. Lacquer on the headstock has turned into honey amber tone and you can almost picture all the smoky dive bars this "Telecast" has been to.
Both pickups had very weak response so these have been professionally rewound and now provide punchy yet clear and detailed electric voice.
All original wiring include a rusty CRL 3-way switch, nylon-shafted Stackpole 1Meg pots, ceramic disc tone capacitor and treble bleed circuit will all be included with the guitar, however, for the sake of clear tone and reliability guitar currently has all new premium-grade CTS A250K brass solid shaft pots, Oak 3-way switch, unique "phone-book" 0.022uf vintage tone capacitor and Switchcraft output jack. All plastic-coated wires have been updated to cloth-covered and the dreadful original output cup that kept falling out is upgraded to a much more reliable Electrosocket.
Hardware shows a lot of wear and patina, 4 out of 6 original bridge saddles have seized height adjustment screws, so newer similar design saddles are currently installed and the originals will be included with the guitar.
Guitar will come in a very high quality G&G Vintage hardcase, handmade for Fender in LA, USA. These are usually used with Fender Custom Shop 60s models. Golden silk interior is in very nice condition and all latches and catches work well. Also included is a vintage Fender logo strap.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, lemon oil fretboard treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings.
This guitar will be shipped around UK and EU with Parcelforce courier, safely packed into a sturdy guitar cardboard box. 24h courier service provided to UK customers. Worldwide shipping provided as well.

However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing.
We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure. We focus on finding great quality guitars and making them reliable and inspiring to play.
