After 65 years since first introduced, Jazzmasters have finally found their devoted audience and are very sought-after Fender models in 2023. However, many modern players struggle with the Vintage Reissue Jazzmasters and want a modernized version. Fender Japan comes to the rescue! Meet the Hybrid II series Jazzmaster, built for the modern guitarist.
 
This guitar has a whole array of features that are meant to make it more user-friendly and versatile instrument.
 
Original Jazzmasters always came with rosewood fretboard necks - one-piece maple necks on these guitars are very rare. On Hybrid II model the neck has a very attractive satin finish on the back - so it will never feel sticky, but the fretboard is glossy for all those silky smooth bends. Instead of the typical skinny vintage frets you are getting narrow tall frets - same as used on the vast majority of Custom Shop guitars. Together with a flatter 9.5-inch fretboard radius, these provide a more relaxed playing experience, where you don't have to press too hard to get a clear ringing chord. You also get a bonus fret - that's 6 extra notes compared to the vintage Jazzmaster! :)
 
Host of high-end features continue with Kluson locking tuners. While retaining the iconic design, these tuners don't require you to wrap the string around the post. Eliminating these wraps, you get better tuning stability and faster string changes as well. Truss-rod is conveniently adjusted at the headstock and the artificial bone nut is nicely cut for spot-on intonation.
 
Gorgeous body is made of select premium alder that is nicely figured. Honey amber finish is rare to find on any Jazzmaster; it reminds us of the Elvis Costello's favourite guitar. Body has balanced weight and very solid acoustic resonance. Black gloss pickguard completes this striking look.
Single-coil pickups have been specially wound for these models by Fender Japan to provide more balanced and versatile tone, from warm and full-bodied neck pickup, to punchy (but not nasal) bridge pickup to heavenly middle position with the full tonal palette. Simplified wiring makes this Jazzmaster very easy to operate and maintain: 3-way toggle switch, master volume and tone - and that's it! Smooth treble roll-off via the tone knob further enhances the sonic options.
 
Last but not least: Fender Japan have replaced the traditional Jazzmaster bridge with a sturdier Mustang option that has solid steel saddles perfectly radiused for this neck. Classic Jazzmaster vibrato system is an absolute joy to use, providing all the "wiggle-stick" action you can dream off. Guitar comes with a nice long tremolo arm that stays in the collet nicely and won't fall out like those other ones.
 
Guitar for sale comes in excellent condition with just some surface scratches on the pickguard and a dent on the bottom edge of the body. No structural damage or modifications, no neck or fret wear!
 
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, lemon oil fretboard treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings.
