Some guitars try to look cool. This one already knows it is and is mildly confused why we’re still talking about it.
A Fender American Pro II / Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster in Oxblood metallic red — which is basically Fender-speak for “expensive-looking dark red that only works if you can back it up.” Luckily, this one can. Pearloid guard, black witch hats, matching attitude. It looks like it should come with a backstage pass and a slightly judgemental sound engineer.
Now, Troy. The man has spent years standing next to Josh Homme — which is a bit like calmly doing your job next to a controlled explosion — and still carved out a sound that’s all texture, nuance, and “hang on, what was that bit?” across Queens of the Stone Age and A Perfect Circle. He’s not the guy smashing the guitar — he’s the guy making you rewind the track. This Jazzmaster is very much built with that same quiet confidence. It doesn’t shout. It just… lingers.
The neck is straight-up modern Fender competence. American Pro II medium C, satin back, gloss headstock, 9.5" radius, medium jumbos. It plays like it’s already warmed up. The 43.1 mm nut width gives it a bit more room, locking tuners keep things stable, and the whole thing feels like it would politely refuse to go out of tune even if you asked it to.
Body is TVL-spec alder, nicely balanced at 3.6 kg, fully shielded, and suspiciously clean. Minimal wear. No issues. Almost like it’s been waiting for you to do something interesting with it.
Hardware is where Fender quietly removed all the usual Jazzmaster “character-building experiences.” Mustang bridge with solid steel saddles — so it doesn’t rattle itself into an existential crisis. AVRI vintage-style vibrato — smooth, controlled, and not looking for drama. It’s still a Jazzmaster, it just went to therapy.
Sound-wise, the TVL Pure Vintage ‘65 pickups are exactly what you want: chime, clarity, and just enough attitude to get you into trouble. Clean = wide and sparkly. Gain = thick and slightly sarcastic. Fuzz = you’re now in a different band. They don’t get lost, they don’t get harsh — they just sit there being annoyingly good.
Electronics are all premium: CTS pots, paper-in-oil caps, Switchcraft everything, full lead/rhythm circuit intact. Nothing to “upgrade”, nothing to “fix” — it’s already been done, and done right.
This is a Jazzmaster that kept the vibe, ditched the quirks, and quietly upgraded everything else.
Looks like it belongs on stage, feels like it belongs in your hands, and sounds like it’s already recorded something you love

Please note that although we put our heart and soul and also all our knowledge into every single guitar we sell, a setup is a personal preference. However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing.
We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure. We focus on finding great quality guitars and making them reliable and inspiring to play.
