Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s Fender Japan were rapidly expanding their catalogue and experimenting with different features.
This 1991 Fender Japan 57 Vintage Reissue Stratocaster has the model name ST57-77LS with LS standing for Lace Sensors. These fantastic pickups were just introduced a few years before that on top-of-the-range USA Stratocaster Plus so Fender Japan decided to get in on the noiseless action and introduce their own model.
To make things even more exciting the wizards from Fujigen added an active mid-boost circuit into this model. Popularized by Eric Clapton, a little printed circuit board running from a 9V battery allows to increase the mid range with a twist of a knob and drive any tube amp into nice crunchy tones.

The guitar for sale is all original and quite rare to come by - and it has aged very gracefully, with some beautiful neck finish yellowing and hardware patina. Apart from the noiseless Lace Sensors and the mid boost it is a typical high-end 57 Vintage Reissue with an alder body and comfy C-shape maple neck.
This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, neck deep clean, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment! Restringed with D'addario 10-46 nickel-plated steel strings.
